Understanding the Overall Cost of Dental Implants
Many patients who are interested in dental implants have concerns about investing in the restorative treatment option. Our team of doctors in Bay Shore, NY, can help patients understand the factors that affect the cost of dental implants. Drs. Daniel P. Duggan, John E. Seylar, and Nellab Hashimi believe that patients should receive the treatment they need without sacrificing their goals, which is why we offer flexible financing options to make superior care more affordable on any budget.
At Duggan Dental Group, we want every patient to be able to enjoy the benefits of dental implants without worrying about the cost.
Factors That Affect the Cost of Dental Implants
At Duggan Dental Group, our doctors use minimally invasive sedation techniques and customized treatment plans to help you lower the cost of your treatment. The factors involved in dental implant cost include:
Type of Sedation
While IV sedation and oral conscious sedation can increase the cost of your treatment, our office performs dental implant surgery using nitrous oxide, a more affordable and effective sedation option. Nitrous oxide is administered by one of our doctors and does not require the costly outside services of an anesthesiologist. In addition, nitrous oxide does not drastically affect your heart rate and can help shorten your recovery time.
Traditional vs. Mini Dental Implants
Mini dental implants are a more conservative treatment option for patients who qualify. These implants are generally more appropriate for patients who have smaller missing teeth and do not require traditional implant posts. If you are a good candidate for mini dental implants, your overall cost of treatment may be lower since mini dental implants offer a shorter surgery time and fewer materials. Mini implants can also help patients avoid the need for bone grafting, which will increase treatment cost.
Type of Restoration
One of the largest contributors to the overall cost of dental implants is the type of restoration you choose. In general, the cost will be greater if you need to replace multiple missing teeth. While a single missing tooth can be replaced with a single dental crown, multiple missing teeth may be better suited for a dental bridge, which will cost more. If you are missing most or all of your teeth, dentures are a cost-effective restoration option that may help lower overall cost of treatment compared to choosing multiple implant-supported crowns.
Patients who lack sufficient bone tissue to support dental implants may require preparatory procedures such as a bone graft or sinus lift prior to implant surgery. These surgical procedures can add to the cost of overall treatment, but are necessary for some patients to ensure their implants fuse correctly with the jaw.
